The biggest segment of PEX market are the multilayer pipes, e.g. coextruded pipes PEX/Al/PEX.
Aluminium plastic pipe despite its appearance is in fact a metallic pipe, tightly bonded to an inner plastic pipe and plastic coating combining both metal and plastic advantages.
This type of aluminium plastic pipe has been designed to offer the end users the advantages of a metallic pipe, such as mechanical resistance and excellent ageing, whilst excluding the known deficiencies of this material like corrosion, considerable weight, rigidity and electric conductibility and its devastating effect.
All PEX Polidan® grades can be used to extrude this kind of pipe structure, thanks to their excellent consistency in the output and in the diameter, a necessary condition to coextrude aluminium over the plastic pipe.
